Since there are those automatic blockings now I don't even use a pattern or anything now, I just try transitions from time to time.
Since reversals are more likely to happen in ufc 2010......
How do you setup for transitions ? ( i.e. jab, jab, move, jab, transition )
How do you feint your transitions?
How do you know when to reverse?
Me, I do all sorts of things.
To setup for transitions I usually try and jab them out and then transition.
Examples
- In open guard - Ill usually try and break the auto block early on. In open guard, postured strikes can do pretty good damage. So, if I'm fighting a wrestler off his back, ill usually just punish his body and get some stamina kill. When transitioning, ill mix them up after ive landed a few good strikes.
- Half Guard- Basically the same strategy i use in open guard, but instead of going to side control first I usually go straight to Mount depending on how good my opponent is with reversals. ( The reason i avoid side control now is due to it being really hard to land a few strong knees, and it adds another transition battle to get to mount.)
- Side Control- Side control bothers me in this game. It's a lot easier for the opponent to roll out during a side control strong knee now. But basically, i just throw knees and bait a reversal to mount.
- Mount - Getting postured in the mount is the most nerve racking reversal battle in the game. You never know if it will happen or not. The way i set it up is by jabbing low to the body and quickly getting in that minor.
Feinting Transitions
- I really don't do this but I would like to learn. Any tips?
Knowing when to reverse
- The way I learned to reverse was by repetition and memorization. I went in training mode in 2009 and set the CPU to positively grapple. I then noticed that nearly every transition starts with a movement of the players feet. So, when i fight on the ground, odds are that im staring at the opponents feet, haha!

^I hate the automatic block. so annoying.
I kinda disagree with side control. Instead of throwing the knees I throw the strong elbows to the head because you can rock in side and cause cuts.
On UFC hiatus..(needed money)
how many attempts do you have to get b4 the auto transition block wears off?and does it reset at any point whether in the same position or a different one?
Does it reset again though once you get into another position?
